A new initiative has been launched on Climate Innovation at 2008 TCI Annual Global Conference

The 11th TCI Annual Global Conference in Cape Town provided a great atmosphere for networking among participants. As a consequence, several initiatives and new projects have emerged for the future. The Open Project Forum section in TCI website will be the meeting point for interested people and will be used for posting further material, discussions and information about the mentioned initiatives.

A parallel session on "Hot Topics in cluster" chaired by Michael Enright took place during the 2008 TCI Annual Global Conference in Cape Town. Participants discussed about some key cluster related issues or "hot topics". This session provided the opportunity for cluster practitioners to share their experiences in small groups around key topics facing the success of clustering projects. The session was planned to define subjects to bring forward to TCI discussions and future conferences.

Many agencies and organisations involved in cluster work have begun to evaluate cluster programmes. More and more people are interested on the challenges that the evaluation process involves. This was reflected on the “Evaluation Workshop” in TCI Conference in Cape Town, which was followed with great interest by participants.

Madeline Smith from Scottish Entreprise (SE) presented at the 2008 TCI Global Annual Conference (Day 3 Wednesday 29th October) the results of the Cluster Dynamics International Study, based on the cases of California, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. Since this session, a lot of interest has raised. This project is keen to widen its scope of study and apply the cluster dynamics analysis to other regions.

Through our activity “ClusterLink” at ZENIT (Centre for Innovation and Technology) we aim at increasing competitiveness for clusters through the further development of existing cluster cooperation and the setting up of new cluster links.
