Philippine export development plan pushes clustering

Early december the new export development plan was being presented before the Phillipine House of Representatives. Centerpiece of the strategy unfolded in the new plan is industry clustering.

This means a halt to the strategy of grooming potential export champions, aggressive market promotions and building more competitive export firms, the pillars of the old export plan.

Two cluster are already identified and are recieving governement support: the furniture and home furnishing cluster in Cebu and the electronics and machine parts industry cluster in Laguna.
