Sylvia Schwaag SergerDirector, IKED Dr. Sylvia Schwaag Serger is Director at IKED. She has worked extensively with innovation policy both in the Swedish and international context, notably in the European Union. Among her responsibilities in recent years, she managed a number of country reviews. Among previous assignments, Sylvia worked as senior administrative officer at the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Stockholm. At the Ministry she analysed and devised strategies for improving technology policy. During this time she represented Sweden in the EU Committee for Scientific and Technical Research (CREST), which advises the European Commission and the Council of Ministers on strategic aspects of research and technological development, and in the OECD Industry Committee. She also acted as expert on a governmental committee on Swedish policy on the European Monetary Union (EMU). She has also worked as senior researcher at the Swedish Institute for Food and Agricultural Economics (SLI), focusing on issues of strategic decision-making in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the European Union.Sylvia holds a Ph.D. in economic history from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). In addition, she has a Masters Degree in International Relations from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University (SAIS). Sylvia is fluent in German, English, Swedish and French and has a good knowledge of Italian. |
