Mekong River Delta nations discuss regional development

Ministers from Laos, Viet Nam, Cambodia and Thailand met during the 11th Mekong River Committee conference in Vientiane (Laos) December 7 - 8, 2004 to discuss regional development.

During his speech Thongloun Sisolit, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos called on the governments of Mekong Delta countries to increase cooperation and urged international organisations to continue their support for sustainable development of the region.

One of the objectives of the meeting was was to review progress in narrowing the development gap among the states that form the Mekong Delta.

The participants also discussed projects such as a rail road between Singapore and and Kunming Province in China.
