This is a 2005 paper by Elisa Giuliani, of the Freeman Centre, University of Sussex.
This paper concentrates on the relationship between industrial clustering and innovation. It aims to show two different ideas in the cluster learning process:
  • the structure of the knowledge network in a cluster is related to the heterogeneous distribution of firm knowledge bases
  • business interactions and inter-firm knowledge flows are not highly co-occurring phenomena
Empirical evidence collected at firm level in 3 different wine clusters in Italy and Chile has been the basis for the study.
