The Thai ministry of Industry and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) recently announced a collaboration to enforce three clusters of SMEs.

The clusters are:
  • rubber and wood processing in Suratthani
  • auto parts center in Chonburi
  • silk processing in Khon Kaen
These clusters will serve as a pilot project to improve manufacturers' skills of production, design and marketing.

In the auto parts cluster for example a central training center will be set up to provide the manufacturers with new production technologies and human resource training.

In the case of the rubber and wood processing cluster Japanese experts will provide training in model design.
