TCI 2007 in Portland
Portland
Portland, Oregon has been selected as the host site for the 2007 TCI Global Conference. This year's conference is jointly hosted by the states of Oregon and Washington, and the City of Portland. The theme for 2007 is "Collaboration, Innovation, and Sustainability".
Planning for the conference is well under way, and the dates have been set. The five-day event will begin on October 8th with cluster tours planned for both the cities of Seattle AND Portland. The Academic Summit and "Introduction to Clusters" program will be held on Oct 9th, along with additional cluster tours in Portland. And the opening plenary session will be held on Wednesday, October 10th. The five content tracks for break-out sessions have been identified: "Pacific Northwest Innovation", "Rural Cluster Development", "Sustainability", "Global Promise", and "Implementation". We're planning some wonderful surprises at the fabulous Gala Dinner which will take place in the Ballroom of the Portland Art Museum the evening of Thursday, October 11th, and the conference will conclude at lunchtime on Friday, October
12th.

We know that we are absolutely limited to a maximum of 500 attendees, so when registration opens in mid-February, we encourage you to register early. We are certain that we will sell out, and we don't want to have to turn you away. The website for this year's event is
www.clusters2007.com. When the registration information is available, the website will also direct you to the Hilton Hotel site, where you can make your lodging reservations.
Portland, Oregon is served by non-stop air service from Frankfurt, Germany via Lufthansa, so it will be very convenient for many of our European delegates. Mexicana also provides service from Mexico, and Northwest Airlines has a non-stop from Tokyo. Once you arrive in Portland, you'll find a vibrant city surrounded by natural beauty and legendary for its urban design. Portland is one of America's most progressive and appealing cities. We have a diverse array of clusters to share with delegates: from forestry to nanotechnology, beer to bioscience. We are also depending on attendees to share their expertise so that we can learn from the cluster development work that is fueling global competitiveness efforts around the world.
We are looking forward to welcoming current and new TCI members from every corner of the world to the Pacific Northwest in October 2007!
