The Desert Knowledge Symposium is a forum to exchange ideas for the greater use of desert knowledge for sustainable growth. Desert Knowledge Australia, the Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre and the Desert Peoples Centre joined to host this 2008 Symposium and Business Showcase

As participant, you will be part of this rare opportunity to hear about how business innovators, researchers and educators from Australia and overseas are working in partnership with communities, industry and governments to develop a body of desert knowledge that will help sustain desert communities around the world.

2008 Desert Knowledge Symposium and Business Showcase will focus on six key themes:

Making remote governance work
Networking business and knowledge
Learning for desert futures
Capturing industry opportunities for desert people
Seizing the desert environment opportunity
Exporting desert knowledge

The Desert Knowledge Symposium is a forum to exchange ideas for the greater use of desert knowledge for sustainable growth. It brings together the Aboriginal people, pastoralists, business people, researchers, artists, administrators and visitors from overseas countries with desert and remote regions.

The Symposium is a unique chance to focus on both the research and ideas being generated throughout Australia and elsewhere and the know-how that comes from long experience of desert living. It will be a major forum to apply these insights to the challenges confronting the desert people, environments and economies in Australia and throughout the world.
