Elections to the TCI Board of Directors

The Nominating Committee invites nominations for the TCI Board of Directors. The Board will be elected by the General Assembly in Cape Town, on 31 October 2008.
DEADLINE for proposals: 20 August 2008

The Nominating Committee is:

Chairman of TCI Board of Advisors.

Dr. Robert Breault bbreault @ competitiveness.org
a Past Director and Member of TCI Board of Advisors.

Mr. Ifor Ffowcs-Williams iffowcswilliams @ competitiveness.org (Spokesperson)
Founding member of TCI, a Past President and Member of TCI Board of Advisors.

This Committee will nominate candidates for all the positions on the TCI Board of Directors, and invites proposals from any interested TCI members.
The final nominations will be announced in advance to TCI members, and will be presented to the General Assembly in Cape Town for a vote on 31 October.



Background

It was decided at the last General Assembly Meeting in Portland, on 12 October 2007, that the incoming Board would be appointed for a one year term.
However, as each Board member would like to fulfil the 3 years mandate as prescribed in the TCI Bylaws, all of the current Board members have announced their willingness to stand for re-election at Cape Town. Other TCI associates may also wish to stand.

Candidates will be elected to the Board of Directors if they receive the majority of all votes by eligible members present at the General Assembly (see Article 13 of the Articles of the Association).


Candidates’ requirements

Candidates to the TCI Board of Directors:

• Must be individuals working with a cluster methodology;
• Must be associates (i.e. members) of TCI-The Competitiveness Institute and must have paid the annual membership fee
• Must be committed to the objectives of the association and actively strive to achieve these.

Submissions

Candidates for the Board of Directors are invited to identify their interest with a CV and a covering letter to be sent to:
nominatingcommittee @ competitiveness.org by 20 August 2008.
Candidates may be contacted for an interview by the members of the Nominating Committee.


Election Process Timeline

The election process for positions on the TCI Board of Directors begins now and will finish with the election of the new TCI Board of Directors by the General Assembly on 31 October 2008 in Cape Town.

21 July. Open call for candidates to TCI Board of Directors

20 August. Deadline for proposals.
Nominating Committee’s deliberation.

10 September. Candidates notified of selection.

17 September. Call for TCI 2008 General Assembly.
Nominations announced, backgrounds posted on TCI website.

31 October. TCI 2008 General Assembly. Cape Town, South Africa.
