Slovenian Wood Industry Cluster

The Wood Industry Cluster (WIC) was established by wood-processing companies in year 2003 with aim of enhancing cooperation between manufacturers in the wood-processing industry and to it related industries such as energy, coatings and forestry who wishing to participate in various fields of business. The WIC is an association representing one-third of the wood processing sector as well as the most important research and educational institutions in the industry in Slovenia.

The main tasks of the WIC are:


· Organizing and leading of common projects for groups of companies.
· Participating in international projects as a cluster representative.
· Carrying out support actions for cluster members.
· Facilitating participation of the companies in the EU R&D programs.
· Enhancing knowledge transfer from R&D sphere to the companies.
· Providing Technology Transfer, exploitation of RTD and innovations in to the companies.


The main fields of the WIC activity are:


· Wood–processing industry, · Forestry,
· Renewable Energy Resources,
· Specific Support Actions,
· International Development Collaboration,
· Innovative Systems,
· Transnational Technology Transfer,
· Education, etc.
