Clustering is an active process in Latin America and it is getting more so. After the 3rd. Latin-American Cluster Conference – 3CLAC www.clusterslatinoamerica2008.com - that took place in Chihuahua, México, in May 2008, a renewed interest in linking and reinforcing cluster processes in the region has arisen. As a first step, the recent TCI Cluster Conference in Cape Town included a session on Latin America with a presentation of 5 relevant examples from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and México. As part of that session three projects were launched.

TCI is in the process of selecting candidate institutions or organizations to host the 4CLAC - 4th TCI Latin American Cluster Conference, the 2009 Regional Latin American Conference of TCI. The 4CLAC will support the reinforcement of TCI network in Latin America by promoting closer ties among cluster practitioners in the region as well as by facilitating an open exchange of experiences, results and methodologies.

Next September 16 the International Conference "Efficient Strategies for local development: Exchange of experiences between Latin America and the OECD” will be carried out in the city of Bogota - Colombia.

The 3rd Latin American Cluster Conference, 3CLAC, took place in Chihuahua, Mexico, the last week of May 2008. It was an event that fully met its objectives of advancing the cluster agenda in Latin America by promoting closer ties among cluster practitioners in the region as well as by facilitating an open exchange of experiences, results and methodologies. There were over 150 participants from 17 countries and over 55 presentations.

32 TCI Latin American members met in Portland-Oregon on October 10, as they were in the city to participate in the 10th Annual Conference of TCI.
El pasado 10 de Octubre, 32 socios latinoamericanos de TCI se reunieron en Portland-Oregon aprovechando su presencia en la conferencia anual del TCI.

Invited by the Chamber of Commerce of Medellin for Antioquia, the only organizational member of TCI in Latin America, TCI participated in the Forum "Progress and Results of the Competitiveness Strategy for Medellin City, Aburra Valley and Antioquia Region".

Within the framework of cooperation of TCI as international consultative institution in the Euro-Latin American Forum, some members of TCI had the opportunity to participate in the 2007 Forum Conference that took place on October 24-26 in Turin (Italy), where more than 250 participants from 14 countries gathered to share ideas and promote regional development in their regions.

The Jamaica Exporters' Association (JEA) has formed a subsidiary that has been given the task of improving the export competitiveness of local firms, with the aim of guiding them towards surviving in the global market. The subsidiary, Competitiveness Company, is a partnership between the JEA and the consultancy, On The Frontier.
