Alberto Pezzi is the Secretary of the Board of Directors of TCI-The Competitiveness Institute. He is based in Barcelona, Spain where he is Head of Analysis of the Observatory of Industrial Foresight of the Catalan Government Centre for Innovation and Business Development (CIDEM) with direct responsibilities in industry competitiveness and cluster-based initiatives.
Alberto was the first employee and first General Manager of The Competitiveness Institute when it was established in November 1998. Since 2003 he is Secretary General and member of the Board of Directors with specific responsibilities for TCI general management and operations and staff coordination in Barcelona.
As main professional engagement Alberto Pezzi is head of competitiveness analysis and foresight at the Observatory for Industrial Foresight (OPI) of the Catalan Government. He has over fifteen years experience in economic development and cluster initiatives working both in the private sector and for local and regional governments especially in Emilia-Romagna (Italy) and Catalonia (Spain). He has extensive experience in regional development consulting and he has been invited to speech in several international forums on issues related with cluster policy and regional competitiveness.
He has BSc in Economics from the University of Bologna and a Master in Law, Economics and Policy of the EU from the European College of Parma (Italy).
