Wisconsin ? The Land of Medical Clusters!

The Wisconsin Department of Commerce maintains an updated database of their medical devices cluster as well as planned cluster development in other related fields. A recent article in a state newspaper, highlighted the case of the Marshfield area within the state that was adopting planned growth in the medical field as early as 20 years ago.

Now more than 6,000 people are employed by the city's 25 companies in the medical field. Even with this success, however, the business community in Wisconsin is still working hard to develop future growth. In the fall of 2003 they held a conference in St. Paul where the goal was: ''to provide attendees with new thinking, new research, and new approaches taking place that will have great impacts on the future of the health care industry''
