Weaver clusters in Andhra Pradesh (India)

'Clusters and corridors in Andhra Pradesh' and 'Creating entrepreneurs and forming networks in the weaver cluster of Pochampalli' are two articles by Sameer Sharma about the weaver cluster in the Indian state Andhra Pradesh.

Sameer Sharma worked on cluster development in India (especially hand loom weaving) from 2001 to 2003 in the state of Andhra Pradesh. In that state there are nearly 200.000 weavers preparing cloth without the aid of a prime mover. Sharma was sent to do a diagonostic study, identify the critical gaps and assist the weavers to use the opportunities created by globalization.

Sharma's experiences are documented in the article Clusters and corridors in Andhra Pradesh

Currently Sameer is working on policies to develop industries in Andhra Pradesh based on a
cluster approach. The approach can be found in the article Creating entrepreneurs and forming networks in the weaver cluster of Pochampalli
