TCI is in the process of selecting candidate institutions or organizations to host the 4CLAC - 4th TCI Latin American Cluster Conference, the 2009 Regional Latin American Conference of TCI. The 4CLAC will support the reinforcement of TCI network in Latin America by promoting closer ties among cluster practitioners in the region as well as by facilitating an open exchange of experiences, results and methodologies.
The conference will be held from August to December 2009 in the yet-to-be-defined host country in Latin America. The expected attendance is around 150-200 delegates mostly from Latin American countries (last conference was attended by 180 delegates).
Proposal Content:
Proposals will basically include the event location, the planning services to lead and manage the conference and a funding framework for the conference. Proposals shall be in Spanish with a summary in English and should clearly address the following evaluation criteria:
1. Experience of host candidate:
Provide a hosting organization. Describe the relevant experience in projects completed of a comparable scope and magnitude. Reference at least one similar conference, describing the $ value, the general overview of the assignment and providing a reference contact.
2. Experience and qualifications of key team members:
Identify the Project Manager and key team members of the project team. Describe their individual capabilities, experience (mainly related to clusters and regional economic development), respective roles and availability for this project.
3. Overall scope and objectives:
Describe the overall scope and objectives, noting any specific challenges that may exist.
4. Work plan, schedule and level of effort:
Suggest your preferred dates for the conference. Provide a work plan and schedule, including a breakdown of the major tasks (marketing and promotion, program management, financials) and the reports to be delivered to TCI.
5. Financial proposal:
Estimate a budget for the conference. The budget will have to include registration and all other income/expenses.
6. Sponsorship:
Line out possible sponsors with probability of their commitment.
Submission of Proposal:
Proposals must be received at TCI no later than 15 October, 2008 at 5p.m. (GMT+1).

Submissions will be subject to review and acceptance by a Supervising Committee with members of the TCI Board of Directors and staff of TCI. Proponents will be notified of the Supervising Committee’s decision by 28 October 2008 during Cape Town 2008, TCI 11th Annual Global Conference.
