Michael Raymont is the Vice-President, Technology and Industry Support, with the National Research Council of Canada. He has principal responsibility for major national programs including the Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), which provides technology support to industry, universities and various levels of government. Other important national programs, for which he is responsible, include the Canadian Technology Network and the Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (NRC-CISTI). In addition, he provides strategic leadership to NRC's two Technology Centres.
Previously, Michael was Chairman and CEO of EquipNet Inc., a Boston-based provider of software and services for capital asset management to Global 1000 manufacturing companies. Michael helped develop the business concepts, raised over $10M in financing, recruited a highly capable senior management team and sold many of the major accounts such as GlaxosmithKline, Novartis, Bayer, J&J, BASF, Eastman, Nestle, Unilever etc. From 1993 to 2000, Michael was President/CEO of three Canadian technology companies in the engineered materials and medical products sectors. With these companies, Dr. Raymont raised both private and public equity, developed business and marketing strategies, recruited management teams and established strategic relationships with several multinational Fortune 1000 companies.
From 1988 to 1993, Michael was CEO of all the non-regulated subsidiaries of Telus Corp, where he ran their international operations and venture investments, primarily in software and telecommunications businesses. Michael Raymont's previous roles involved research management, licensing and technology transfer at universities and not-for-profit research institutes. Dr. Raymont has B.Sc (Hons) and Ph.D. degrees in chemisty, and was a Killam Scholar. He holds two patents, has authored numerous publications and presentations principally on technology commercialization and economic development. He has held board positions on a number of public and private technology companies, and is a member of several professional associations

On 2 April 2004 the Honourable Lucienne Robillard, Minister of Industry of Canada, appointed Dr. Michael Raymont as NRC's Acting President.Michael Raymont is the Vice-President, Technology and Industry Support, with the National Research Council of Canada.
