This paper undertaken by the Information & Communication Technology for Sustainable Development, discusses role that knowledge entrepreneurs operating across geographical and cultural borders play in the transition process towards a sustainable society.
It is suggested that knowledge entrepreneurs without borders (KEWB) are at the crossroads of three forms of entrepreneurship: green entrepreneurship (“ecopreneurship”), business entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship.

KEWB are influenced by the context in which they are situated. Therefore, the paper introduces the concept of knowledge innovation zones (KIZ) as the most viable environment for nurturing, attracting and retaining KEWB.
