This report was presented at the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and development) at the conference in China in 2001.
The paper introduces Brazil and describes the country's experience with regional and social policies, taking the Northeast as a study case, pointing out possible suggestions for the development of new approaches that can be adopted to diminish national disparities.
