Oceania New Region Within TCI

Clusters Asia-Pacific (CAP) Inc. have changed name and description to 'The Competitiveness Institute Oceania - The TCI chapter network for regional competitiveness in the Oceania region'.

At the Clusters Asia-Pacific (CAP) annual general meeting in Adelaide, Monday 19th December 2005, it was decided to change name and description to 'The Competitiveness Institute Oceania - The TCI chapter network for regional competitiveness in the Oceania region'.

"Through the global network of TCI we offer information on clusters and competitive regions. We use multiple arenas in real life and on the net for exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences on methodologies for economic growth. Our focus is on utilising clustering concepts to build economic capacity within industries and regions, nurture global investment and trade alliances, strengthen innovation systems and promote entrepreneurship and regional branding," said Tracy Scott-Rimington, Co-Chair of the Executive Board of The Competitiveness Institute Oceania.

"We intend to hold a Special General Meeting to enact the changes to the Rules of Association on 31st January 2006 in Sidney. This is the first step in a process of change for the CAP Inc entity. Negotiations regarding the provision of complementary services and shared memberships will need to take place early in the New Year."

"Welcome Oceania!" President Lars Eklund said. "Tracy and her group has my and the Board of Director's full support in the efforts to reinforce the regional TCI network 'down under'."
