Czech Republic's 2006 Cluster Conference

This conference was held under the auspices of The Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic and is organised by CzechInvest. The theme of the Brno conference "The role of Innovation in Growing Competitive Clusters".

CzechInvest, the Investment and Business Development Agency of the Czech Republic organizes in co-operation with the South Moravian Innovation Centre the Cluster Conference 2006 under the auspices of The Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jiri Havel. The conference did take place in Brno in the Czech Republic on May 4 - 5 of this year and is intended to bring together international representatives of firms, regional authorities and agencies, universities and cluster practitioners from around Europe to discuss and learn
about the role of innovation in building successful regional clusters.

Topics to be discussed did include:
  • The Czech Republic's cluster initiatives and their comparison with successful foreign clusters
  • International experience of supporting and growing clusters through innovation
  • How multinational companies manage the innovation process
  • Tools for measuring competitiveness and innovation
  • Financing innovation
  • Cooperation between firms and universities in the innovation process
  • the Czech National Cluster Study and new support programmes for innovation 2007 - 2013
Among the speakers was TCI former President and Board of Advisors member Ifor Ffowcs-Williams from New Zealand, who has been quite active in the region in the last years.
