Summer Internship at the National Competitiveness Council of Armenia

The Executive office of the National Competitiveness Council of Armenia is seeking global and local market researchers. Under the direct supervision of the CEO of the National Competitiveness Council of Armenia, the market researchers will carry out research and analysis of global and local markets in selected sectors, industries and clusters.

TITLE: Global and local market research specialists (several positions)
START DATE/TIME: ASAP/Summer
DURATION: Summer or extended in case of mutual agreement
LOCATION: Yerevan, Republic of Armenia
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direct supervision of the CEO of the National Competitiveness Council of Armenia, the market researchers will carry out research and analysis of global and local markets in selected sectors, industries and clusters.
A Conceptual framework on competitiveness developed by Professor Michael E. Porter will be used for the competitiveness assessment and the Strategy. Porter’s Diamond Model will be applied for analyzing the microeconomic conditions in the selected sectors/clusters – i.e. Tourism, IT and other potentially globally competitive sectors/clusters.

Main requirements and tasks include: Good analytical and research skills. Good understanding of the microeconomics and dynamics of markets. Global and local value chain analysis of selected sectors and clusters. Work on research, planning and investment projects proposals. Project evaluation, risk management and monitoring. Assessment of financial indicators of projects.
Excellent written communication skills; Well organized personality, ability to work independently, skilled at handling multiple tasks, and ability to adhere to deadlines; Excellent English is a must. Knowledge of Armenian is not required.

Weekend trips for Summer Interns will be organized in the historic parts of Armenia, some of which date back to 1st century BC and one of the oldest Christian sites in the world. The interns will have opportunity to meet Armenia’s top government officials, policy makers and leaders of private sector during their internship and engage in discussions.

ABOUT the National Competitiveness Council of Armenia: NCCA was launched by the decision of the Government of RA in November 2007. The NCCA is a multiparty body with a national mandate aimed at enhancing Armenia’s global competitiveness and promoting sustainable development of the country.
The executive office of the NCCA is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, ensuring the implementation and, in some cases as determined by the Council, the implementation of the work program and projects approved by the Council.
